The trip was amazing, I had such a good time. I got barreled, Went fishing, hiking, horse rising. Nancy and Evie were awesome!
In search of new waves. Location: South Central Pacific Coast, Costa Rica
We set off early Monday morning, leaving double overhead bombs in Playa Hermosa to explore the relatively unsurfed coast south of Dominical.
Less than two hours later we were checking the waves in Dominical itself: Big, stormy and a little closed out.. oh well.. we were looking for something new anyway, so we headed further South towards Uvita in search of the point breaks we had heard about but never seen working.
On the road we got up close and personal with a Tapir, who was happy to stroll up to the side of the car to get a quick snack! We stopped at a local soda near the highway to fuel up. We voted this the best casado ever!
At two of our three afternoon spots we were the only people in the line up! We had great surf at a left point break that at times showed incredible potential as a classy barreling wave. We found a huge beach break with fun, empty peaks for miles in every direction,
and we went back to surf Dominical at high tide. Just remember: No Swimming!!!
We had a great night near Uvita at a beautiful villa with ocean views to Playa Tortuga (cheers Brook!) and dinner at a cool French/Indonesian restaurant, Madras near the cute community of Ojochal. Playa Tortuga has an incredible rivermouth wave on its day but a surf check early morning showed it wasn’t on form with the southerly swell we had so we headed off. We stopped for a quick surf at mellow Dominicalito in the morning, which refreshed us before we headed back to Hermosa. This was a great trip that showed us a new part of the Pacific Coast, who knew there were still secret spots??!!
Pura Vida… Rica Surf x
